Boards that are not simulated yet
Some boards come in with a Wokwi project but do not run in Mokxi yet, so they are drawn with an amber ribbon.
A board like this has its real header pins, by the names on its silkscreen, so the parts around it keep their wires and the sketch is kept. What it does not do is run: there is nothing behind the pins.
What you can do with one
- See the circuit. The board sits where the project had it, with every wire on the pin it was on.
- Edit and export the code. A board keeps its sketch in the code panel. Export writes it out for the Arduino IDE (the README names the board package and the board ID) or for PlatformIO, where PlatformIO has the board.
- Run the rest of a circuit with a module in it. A Tiny Tapeout block or a Notecarrier does not stop Run: its pins are left open, and the serial monitor says so once.
What you cannot do
Run a circuit with one of these boards in it. Run shows one message saying the board is not simulated yet, with a button that opens Export. There is no upload and no program file for these boards either.
Which boards, and why
| Board | Why it does not run yet |
|---|---|
| ESP32-S3-BOX, ESP32-S3-BOX-3 | The ESP32-S3 runs in Mokxi, but the box's display, touch panel, microphones and speaker are not on the bench yet. |
| M5Stack CoreS3 | The same: the S3 runs, the display, touch, camera, IMU and power chip do not. |
| ESP32-S2-DevKitM-1, Wemos S2 mini, Franzininho WiFi | No ESP32-S2 core. |
| ESP32-H2-DevKitM-1, ESP32-H2 SuperMini | No ESP32-H2 core. |
| ESP32-C5-DevKitC-1, ESP32-C61-DevKitC-1 | No core for either chip. |
| ESP32-P4-Function-EV-Board, ESP32-P4 Preview | No ESP32-P4 core. |
| ESP32-S31-Function-CoreBoard-1, ESP-Mosaico | No ESP32-S31 core. |
| ESP32-CAM | The camera is not modeled, and a sketch for this board is about the camera. |
| Raspberry Pi Pico 2, Pico 2 W | No RP2350 core. |
| STM32 Nucleo-C031C6, Nucleo-L031K6, Nucleo-L432KC | No STM32C0, L0 or L4 core. |
| MCH2022 badge | Its display, FPGA and RP2040 co-processor are not on the bench. |
| Blues Notecarrier A | A carrier for a cellular modem and a cloud service, which are out of scope. |
| ESP32-C3-DevKit-RUST-1 | The ESP32-C3 runs, but the board is about its ICM-42670-P IMU and SHTC3 sensor, which Wokwi runs as custom chips and Mokxi does not model. |
| ESP32-2432S028R, the "Cheap Yellow Display" | Its ESP32, ILI9341 and XPT2046 each run in Mokxi, but as separate parts, and one part cannot carry both a serial monitor and a display yet. An ESP32 board and the ILI9341 touch module, wired as the board wires them, are the same circuit. |
| Franzininho DIY | Its ATtiny85 runs at 16.5 MHz for the USB it bit-bangs on PB3 and PB4; Mokxi's ATtiny85 runs at 8 MHz, so its sketches would run at half speed. |
| Tiny Tapeout input, 8-bit input, output and bidirectional blocks | Harness blocks for a Verilog design that Wokwi runs as a custom chip. |
| Composite video TV | Mokxi does not draw a picture from a composite video signal yet. |
| ILI9881C 8 inch MIPI DSI display | It is driven over MIPI DSI by an ESP32-P4, which does not run yet. |
Common mistakes
Expecting the board you can run nearby to stand in for it. An ESP32-S3-BOX sketch does compile for the ESP32-S3-DevKitC-1, but it draws on a display the DevKitC does not have. To try the logic in Mokxi, put the DevKitC in the board's place and wire the parts the sketch uses to it.
