For escape room builders

# Design and test your escape room puzzles before you build them

Keypads, RFID readers, secret knocks, reed switches and solenoid releases, wired to an Arduino and running in your browser. Get the logic and the wiring right on screen, then build the prop once.

- Real Arduino code
- Real parts and wiring
- Nothing to install

## Puzzles that already run

Each one is a complete build with its code. Open it, change the combination, the timing or what happens next, and run it again.

### A code on a keypad

Players find the code; the right one clicks a relay. Change the code, the length or what a wrong guess does.

Open it Keypad lock

### The right card or token

Hide RFID cards in props; only the right ones open the door. Two cards are on the list, two are decoys.

Open it RFID door

### A secret knock

A vibration sensor listens for a rhythm and opens a servo bolt only for the right one.

Open it Secret knock lock

### A solenoid that releases a latch

A 12 V solenoid on a MOSFET with its flyback diode, the driver behind most drawer and door releases.

Open it Solenoid tap

### A reed switch and a magnet

Open a hidden door or move a magnet and the next stage triggers, until a reset button clears it.

Open it Door alarm

### Tip it to trigger it

A tilt switch that fires when an object is turned the right way, latched until reset.

Open it Tilt alarm

### A number lock with clues

A keypad and an LCD that answer higher or lower: a clue-giving lock in one build.

Open it Number guess

### A remote control puzzle

The right buttons on a handset light the right lamps, decoded from the infrared pulses.

Open it Remote-controlled lamps

## How builders use it

Do the trial and error where a mistake costs nothing.

- Sketch the puzzle as a circuit Start from the closest build above, or a blank board. Drop in the keypad, reader or sensor and the lock driver.
- Write the logic The combination, the order of stages, what a wrong answer does, how a game master resets it. It is ordinary Arduino C++.
- Play it on screen Press the keys, tap the cards, knock the rhythm. The serial monitor shows what the board decided, and a logic analyzer shows why.
- Build it once When it works, wire the real prop from the same diagram and load the same code.

## Locks and safety

A simulator checks the logic. Keeping players safe is a building decision.

- Never let a puzzle stand between players and an exit. Room exits should open without solving anything, and a game master should be able to release every lock.
- Prefer locks that open when power is lost, so a fault or an outage frees players instead of trapping them.
- Your local fire code and building inspector decide what is allowed. Check with them before a lock goes on a door people pass through.
- Mains wiring, enclosures and mounting are outside what Mokxi simulates. Use rated supplies and have a qualified person check anything on mains power.

## Questions prop builders ask

Can I simulate a real maglock or a 12 V solenoid?

You can simulate the control side exactly as you would build it: the board, the MOSFET or relay, the flyback diode and the 12 V supply, with the solenoid on the canvas. Check the current rating of your real lock and power supply against its datasheet before you build.

Will the code run on a real Arduino?

Code for the Uno peripherals Mokxi models can move to a real Uno. Always test the finished prop on the bench before it goes into a room.

Can I keep my puzzle designs private?

Yes. Projects can be kept private, so players never find your solutions in a public gallery. The pricing page lists how many private projects each plan holds.

Can my team work on a puzzle together?

Yes. Live collaboration puts more than one person in the same circuit. Free includes you and one other person, and Pro has no limit on people.
