# Install it as an app

How to add Mokxi to your home screen or dock from your browser, and what it changes.

## Nothing asks you to

Mokxi never shows a card or a prompt about installing. If you want an icon for
it, your browser can add one whenever you choose, with the steps below.

## Chrome and Edge on a computer

- Chrome: open the menu (the three dots), then Cast, save, and share,
then Install page as app. The install icon at the right of the address
bar does the same.

- Edge: open the menu (the three dots), then Apps, then Install this
site as an app.

Mokxi then gets an icon, opens in its own window without the address bar, and
behaves like any other app on the machine.

## On a phone

- iPhone or iPad, Safari: tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. If
you see Open as Web App, leave it on, then tap Add.

- iPhone or iPad, Chrome: tap Share beside the address bar, then
Add to Home Screen.

- Android, Chrome: open the menu, then Add to Home screen or
Install app.

## Safari on a Mac

Open File in the menu bar, then Add to Dock.

## Firefox

Firefox on a computer has no install option for websites, so there is nothing
to add there. Firefox on Android can add a home screen shortcut from its menu.

## What it does not do

It does not make Mokxi work offline. The simulation and the compiler already
run on your own machine, but the page itself, your account and the compiler's
toolchain download still come over the network the first time.

## Does it change anything else?

No. An installed Mokxi is the same site in a window of its own, with the same
account, the same projects and the same shortcuts. See
